Daventry Remembrance
Daventry Town Council supported by the Royal British Legion invite members of the public to the annual Remembrance Day Parade and Service. This takes place on the Sunday closest to the 11th of November to commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women involved in the two world wars and later conflicts.
The parade, led by the parade master, steps off at approximately 10.30am from outside the Argos store on Daventry High Street and processes along the High Street to the War Memorial via Abbey Street. The parade consists of Councillors, Civic Dignitaries, local standard Bearers, veterans, service personnel and local organisations and community groups, including the Scouts, Brownies, and Guides.
The public are invited to gather safely on the path opposite the War Memorial to participate in a short service to include the calling of the Roll of Honour and laying of wreaths by local dignitaries, members of the Royal British Legion, and community groups, where the Last Post will be performed, and the two-minute silence is observed.
Following the short service at the War Memorial, the parade will march to the Holy Cross Church, for the Remembrance Day Service, led by Daventry Churches Together. All members of the public are invited to attend the Remembrance Day Service, which commences at 11:30am.
