Northampton Transport Heritage Bus Tours

Northampton Transport Heritage will be bringing their wonderful vehicles back to Daventry during Heritage Open Days in September 2023! More detailed information will follow but for now save the date below.

    • When: Saturday 7th September 2024
    • Time: 10am – 4.45pm
    • Where: Daventry Market Square
    • Entry: FREE to come along to and Family Friendly - there is an optional purchase of a programme and timetable which will be available on the day for for £2. Funds will go towards the upkeep and maintenance of the heritage buses. Programmes are also available to purchase from the Town Council and Museum office nearer to the event.
    • Parking: Catch a heritage bus into town and back again or free parking in town (please check onsite car park signage for time restrictions and regulations).
    • Routes: Buses will depart from outside the Plume of Feather pub at 10 minute intervals between 10am and 3pm with a static display in Market Square. Buses will be travelling to Badby, Staverton, Braunston, Welton or Ashby St Ledgers and Weedon.

A souvenir programme featuring the timetable can be purchased on the day for £3 from the the NTH stand which will be opposite Market Square – in front of Murati's restaurant. The money from the brochure helps to go toward the maintenance and upkeep of these beautiful buses so please purchase one from them if you can.

Daventry Museum will also be open on the day to help celebrate Heritage Open Days. Entry is free and you can come look round and take part in lots of free fun activities too

Heritage Open Days 2023

Daventry Enjoys Nostalgic Bus Rides as Daventry Town Council partner again with Northampton Transport Heritage (NTH). They brought smiles to everyone faces with their selection of classic buses, offering visitors free bus tours to mark National Heritage Open Days 2023.

Heritage Open Days 2022

When Northampton Heritage Transport visited Daventry last year on Saturday 17th September 2022 visitors to the town had the most wonderful time, read about it in our news item Heritage Buses Charm Daventry Visitors.

The heritage bus tours recreated former Local United Counties & Midland Red Bus Routes and covered 373.20 miles in total. The routes took in villages including Ashby St Ledgers, Badby, Braunston, Norton, Staverton, Weedon and Welton. All journeys were free of charge and visitors were able to buy programmes as a souvenir of the day and the profits of which go towards the upkeep and maintenance of the vehicles.

The buses departed from Market Square, Daventry and on the day transported 2,688 passenger journeys, made up of 1,885 Adults and 803 Children - the most Northampton Transport Heritage have ever given in one day!
