A Culinary Delight at Daventry Farmers' Market 2022

A Culinary Delight at Daventry Farmers' Market 2022

Daventry Town Council was thrilled to host our third annual Farmers' Market on Saturday (17 September) bringing an array of artisan food and drink related traders to town.

This year's speciality food market was our biggest yet, with stalls all the way around the town plus free family entertainment including; a Children's Scarecrows Trail, stilt walker, face painter and balloon modeller.

The family friendly drop in event, was spread out along Daventry High Street, Bowen Square, Foundry Walk and Sheaf Street, and boasted a roster of independent stallholders, selling culinary related gifts and treats alongside an assortment or yummy food and drink vendors too. There was also a variety of stalls catering for vegetarian, vegan, dairy free, gluten free and nut free options, so every dietary requirement was available to shoppers.

The delicious day coincided with various Heritage Open Days events, taking place within the town including, the nostalgic Heritage Bus Tours provided by Northampton Transport Heritage. Market visitors enjoyed free bus rides throughout the day, which recreated retro bus routes in and around neighbouring villages.

Additionally, Daventry Museum marked Heritage Open Days and embraced this years' theme 'Astounding Inventions' by recreating the infamous Daventry Radar Experiment with the help of visitors.

Daventry Mayor, Cllr. Malcolm Ogle attended all the town events and remarked:

"What a thrill to be able to come along to the many wonderful events which complimented each other and showcased the town so well. The Farmers' Market was as popular as ever and it was great to see the friendly faces of the many returning traders and to say hello and welcome the new stallholders too. The free family entertainment was a great addition and was a big hit with younger visitors. It was great to see the town so busy and I hope Daventry's wonderful independent shops and retailers benefited from the increased footfall as well."

The many activities taking place in town made for a fantastic atmosphere with Daventry brimming with visitors.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Farmers' Market and helped support the event. We can't wait to host our next seasonal market the Daventry Christmas Market on Saturday 26th November 2022. Further information and updates to follow soon.

This market is funded and organised by Daventry Town Council.
