Mayoral Civic Service Celebration

On Saturday 28th September, The Mayor of Daventry, Councillor Karen Tweedale, welcomed Civic Dignitaries from across the county to her Civic Service at Holy Cross Church. Accompanied by her Consort, Mr Mark Tweedale, the event celebrated her term in office and promoted her fundraising work for her two nominated charities; Northamptonshire Domestic Abuse Service and Service Six

As a supporter of young people in the community, Councillor Tweedale explained why she chose these two charities:

"I often witness the struggles faced by our young adults. By supporting these charities, we can make a significant impact on their lives."

The Church service was led by Reverend Dawn Stokes and featured a beautiful singing performance by children from Abbey CE Academy, a reading from Deputy Mayor, Councillor Katie Thurston and a poem by close friend Elaine Hughes.

Councillor Tweedale was honoured to be joined by H.M. Lord-Lieutenant of Northamptonshire James Saunders Watson and his consort Lizzie, who were very generous with their support and time to attend the service.

Mayor Tweedale would like to express her thanks and gratitude to Holy Cross Church for the lovely service, Daventry Town Football Club for the kind use of their facilities and catering, Abbey CE Academy Choir, plus everyone who attended and supported the service to help make it such a memorable day.
