No Mow May

Throughout the month of May 2023, we left certain green areas to grow as we support #NoMowMay to encourage biodiversity and give nature a helping hand to bloom.

PLANS FOR 2024

In May 2024, we're once again giving our lawns and green spaces a well-deserved break for the entire month.

No Mow May, endorsed by Plantlife, is more than just a break from the regular lawn routine. It's an opportunity for us to champion our local wildlife, especially our buzzing friends like bees, butterflies, and moths. As shared by the wise minds at Countryfile, cutting back on mowing means ten times more nectar sugar for these incredible creatures. And don't underestimate the power of flowers like dandelions – they're like a superfood buffet for our beloved bees and butterflies.

Daventry Town Council loved the success of last year's campaign so much that we're officially getting in on the No Mow May action. We're on board, and we couldn't be happier. we're thrilled to share the locations where we'll be participating in this fantastic initiative! Let's give our local wildlife a boost and create beautiful, natural spaces for everyone to enjoy, but we will still be leaving areas mowed within the locations, so we can give our furry friends an opportunity to stretch their paws!

LOCATIONS: Here are the locations where you can find us participating in No Mow May:

  • Middlemore: The Vale and Orchard
  • Lang Farm: The basin area of the open space
  • Heartlands Lake, as well as the open space just off Lamport Road
  • Worcester Way
  • Daneholme: Park
  • South Way: Verges along the highway
  • Eastern Way: Verges along the highway
  • London Road: Verges along the highway
  • Lang Farm: Verges along the highway

Remember the fantastic changes we saw last year? Get ready for an encore! More wildflowers, more vibrant pollinators, and a town that's positively buzzing with life.

As we embrace No Mow May 2024, get ready to witness positive changes in our landscape – a tapestry of wildflowers and a bustling habitat for our pollinator pals. Let's make our town the greenest and happiest spot around!

Join us in this joyful campaign. Share your snapshots and stories on social media with the hashtag #NoMowMayDaventry24, and let's paint a picture of a thriving, vibrant community.
